Expect to Succeed

The dreams you choose to believe in come to be.
When you feel in your innermost being
that you will achieve what you set out to do,
you open the way for miracles.

Choose to believe something good can happen.
Expecting it to happen energizes your goal
and actually gives it momentum.
What you expect to happen, happens.

If you expect to succeed, you'll succeed.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if he'd stuck it out.
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are -
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

YOU CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING YOU IMAGINE

Picture yourself in your mind's eye
as having already achieved your goal.
See yourself doing the things you'll be doing
when you've reached your destination.

Your imagination is your mental workshop
where all your plans are fashioned.
Visualize your goals and you'll get your subconscious
to work toward making your mental pictures come true.

Olympic medalists use the art of mental rehearsal or visualization.
They mentally run through important events before they happen.

Decide what you want out of your life.
Sense it before you have it.
See it, feel it, taste it, smell it and imagine
the emotions associated with the attainment of your goal.
Pre-live it in your mind before you have it.
Your vision will become a powerful driving force in your life.

See the things you want as already yours,
and one day, they will be yours.

Young Dreams

Smiling from ear to ear, looking at the shiny new paint and chrome, feeling and smelling the new rubber. He wanted to scream with joy! This had to be the greatest day of this little boy’s life! It couldn’t get any better! At the age of six his father bought him his first, brand new minibike. Coming from a very large and poor family, he knew he had to be the luckiest boy in the world or he had just created a huge miracle! (One minibike equaled a whole lot of food and clothing for the family.)

The rule or stipulation for having this new gift was that is was to be used to transport himself from home to work and back only!

He thought…”yeah, I can deal with that!”

As the years passed, still abiding by the rule, his passion for riding grew more and more; it soon became his first love.

Because of so many kids to tend to and endless work schedule his Father often forgot about him, he was left to fend for himself. Soon he was riding himself to school, to little league practice, to the grocery store (which he often volunteered for). And that mini bike became a part of him. Life was good!

Fast forward to his early teens and a new, much larger, and faster motorcycle. (He could barely touch the ground with the tip of his toe.) Adapting to it very quickly, he soon realized that he really loved riding bikes and that he was becoming a pretty good rider.
Growing up in a small desert town, during the winter months, he got a chance to test his skills against amateur and semi pro riders from the big cities, often beating them or at least, giving them a good challenge. When asked if he raced or was on a race team, he responded, “ No, I just ride” “Well, you should be on a team!” they responded.

As he entered junior high and went on to high school, all he could think about was his passion for riding his dirt bike. Perhaps it brought him peace and fulfillment and for a moment took him away from the pressures of being an adolescent. Self confidence was high and life seemed magical. Everything just flowed!

Quietly, he made a decision to do what he loved, to race dirt bikes. Fearing ridicule, he kept it to himself.

Finally, the opportunity to share his dream with those around came.

Ahh… Career Orientation class, with the piles of books listing all the possible careers, salaries, years of education, all available for him to choose from. No problem, he thought.
Well, after feverishly looking through all the books, his dream career Motocross racer/ Dirt bike racer was nowhere to be found. Confused, self-doubt rose its ugly head. “What if it’s not possible for me,” he thought. “It doesn’t exist. It’s not in the book! Maybe I missed it”, he thought. Something must be wrong.

Somehow sensing his trouble, the teacher pounced! So mister, what are you choosing as a career? Stalling for a moment, he swallowed and answered, “I want to be a motocross racer!” The teacher erupted in laughter, followed be the entire class! “You can’t make a living racing dirt bikes!” he shouted. “It’s not listed in the book!” Mortified, he just shriveled into his chair and held on powerless, as if he was in a really bad dream ready to crash.

It became a daily routine. The humiliation, pain, and agony felt like a pounding hammer on his head. This went on for the rest of the high school years, as everyone attempted to “save” him. He was a good kid, just needed some guidance.

All the “authority figures” were there to help. The parents, the girl friend and her parents, his buddies, their parents, other teachers and siblings all lovingly and caringly told him “you cant do that!” get a real career, something good!

His whole beingness felt and believed wholeheartedly in what he wanted to do.
He loved to ride. It was the only thing that mattered.
Not a salary, education or prestige!

Slowly, but surely, the opinions of others crept in, along with self-doubt, and a huge lack of confidence, happiness, and fulfillment. A huge part of him got lost, and he started making wrong and poor decisions. Confirming others were right. Soon angst, confusion, self-doubt, and second guessing decisions became normal to him. And thus became, living a life of “I don’t want to do the wrong thing”. “How could I be so stupid”, occupied his mind. Life became seemingly difficult. And sadly, in the end, at the ripe old age of 19, his dreams were shattered, and he settled for a less than amazing life.

Sound familiar? Millions of people of all ages go through this same scenario on a daily basis, living unfulfilled lives of despair and settling for less.

Never work again!

Real success is achieved when you like what you do.
No one can succeed in any endeavor that they don't like.
If you don't love what you're doing, then don't do it.

Your chances of success are directly proportional
to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.

Do something that you have a deep personal interest in.
Do something you'd enjoy spending twelve to fifteen hours a day
working at, and the rest of the time thinking about.

Don't set compensation as your goal.
Find work you like and the compensation will follow.

Work is not your punishment.
It's your reward, your strength and your pleasure.

When your vocation becomes your vacation,
you'll never work another day in your life.

Fear

Fear is the ONLY thing that keeps us from doing and having what we want and what we need. We could be the most skilled race car driver, dirt bike rider, football player, golfer or even intelligent enough to have a lot of money, but if we have a fear, no matter how small we cannot achieve being the best, having what we want or in many cases what we need. If you are a dirt bike rider or any of the above and find yourself never coming in first, but you know you are the most skilled or the smartest at what you do, then you have some type of fear that is keeping you from achieving that first place trophy, it is that simple, you have some type of fear programmed into your subconscious mind.

Your not coming in first is an unwanted behavior and under the unwanted behavior is a negative feeling. The feeling that is lying under the unwanted behavior (which is keeping you from winning) is not fear, anxiety or panic, those feelings are there to keep you away from feel the negative feeling that lies under the unwanted behavior. The fear, anxiety and panic are just the protection feelings that protects you from feeling the negative feeling which are usually hurtful or painful feelings.

Fear, anxiety and panic are the feelings that are protecting you from getting hurt again either physically or emotionally. Your conscious mind might be saying, you have the talent, you are smart and you have the skills to be the best in your field and it knows that because it lives in your real world. It talks to you in thoughts which tells you what you should do based on what you want and what it sees going on in your reality world. The subconscious mind talks to us in feelings which is power and that feeling power drives us and since the conscious mind talks to us in thoughts it has no power. The reason we don?t win even though the conscious mind wants to win and knows we can win is because thoughts have no power and cannot over ride our inner negative fear feelings.

People who have fears of having a lot of money are people who could have a fear of not deserving (if you feel you don?t deserve you certainly will not allow yourself to have a lot of money), not good enough (if you feel you are not good enough it is almost impossible for you to have a lot of money because you don?t feel you are good enough to have it a lot of money) and a fear that there is not enough (if you have a fear that there is not enough then you will never allow yourself to have enough or more then what you think is enough if you get to much you will sabatoge it). If you find yourself always struggling to survive because you don?t have enough money then you have some kind of fear about having money that is getting in the way of your having money.

You are exactly where you are supposed to be in life based on the feelings you programmed into your subconscious mind, mostly from childhood, which have now become fears when we become an adult. You can?t be any further in your life or any place else in your life.

If your income and success is created from being in the sports world and you are not number ONE or making the MONEY and you consciously know you are capable of making being the best or having a lot of money then you have some type of fear that is blocking you from achieving this.

You Have the Power

If you have the desire, You have the power.
Your dreams will come true, if you have the desire to pursue them.
You must believe in yourself.
Know in your heart, that you can do the job that you've set out to do.

You're never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true.
The achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself to it.

Everything is possible, if you believe it's possible.
It's your mind that sets your limits.
What you envision you can do.

Start thinking of yourself as a success and success will follow.
Success is a state of mind.
You can, because you think you can.

Value of Misery

Most people are brought to this work by some amount of what they consider to be misery in their lives. Their lives are just not going the way they think they should be going and they are unhappy, angry, frustrated or disappointed about that. Nothing they do changes the situation and outcome. The value of misery is that, without that misery, most of us would never do the very challenging work of going inside, looking at and changing our own programming. Yet without some form of going inside work, personal growth is limited, our fullest potentials never reached. While pain and misery are not the only forces that can motivate us to go inside and heal our issues, they are certainly among the most prevalent. Pain (emotional or physical) has the additional value of urgently demanding our attention to a situation -- right here, right now. The recollection of pain can also be a tremendous motivator.
Misery and pain serve by bringing us to the question, Why? How many of us, in truth, would ask why -- much less go exploring our internal world -- without the motivating factor of misery or pain? Since issues and protection mechanisms and beliefs always cause us some pain at some point in our lives, they can be considered to contribute to the cycle of personal growth. Issues and protection mechanisms call our attention to internal programming that needs to be corrected (healed). While there are other motivating forces (such as a quest for God/Spirituality) which may also lead to internal exploration, the search for relief from misery is usually the reason most people pursue an internal healing path in the first place.

Commitments Equals Reality

Desire is the starting point of all acheivement.
Your desires(what you would like to have in your life) are the precursors (beginning)of the things which you are capable of doing or having.
These desires can in time externalize themselves into concrete fact.
Your intense anticipation itself will transform your possibilities into reality.

Weak desires will bring you weak results,
just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.
If you just care enough to for any result, you will almost certainly attain it.

Nothing has more strength than dire necessity.
The acheivment of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself to it.

If you have the will, you'll find a way.

One Pedal at a Time

Just got off the phone with Kathy Pruitt (way cool!). This girl rocks in more ways than one!
At the age of 16 she won her first Jr. World Championship!

She is back in Jersey to compete in the US Open of Mountain Biking. It takes place at Diablo Free Ride Park, one of coolest places to ride!
Wishing her a repeat win of her event!

Aside from winning all the time, Kathy is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met!
At 24, she has wisdom beyond her young age.
I was speaking to her about challenges that people face on a daily basis, along with life changing events that happen (even to good people), and how people respond and cope with them.
And without getting all philosophical on me she simply and calmly said "One step at a time".
It couldn't get any simpler than that! I know she was smiling when she said that!

Simply take what ever event or challenge you are having (or imagine you are going to have) and make it about now! "This moment" and at this moment, you alone have the Power to make a Choice of what to do! And what choices you make determine your outcome. Yes, it is that simple! If you don't like your outcome, choose again! You have the power of choice! No one can take that away from you, and if there is anything you want to own in your life, it is that!
Besides it is free!
Anything you do is a metaphor for your life.
When you learned to ride a bike, it was one pedal at a time. The same as if you are racing and your body wants to quit, you can focus on one pedal at a time.

So when it seems like life is throwing you a challenge and you can't see your way out, just focus on the moment. Be grateful for what you already have, feel the breeze or the warm sun, and start from that point forward one step at a time!
I owe this post to Kathy Pruitt for reminding me to take it one step at time and focusing on the moment.
Please take the time to meet Kathy. It could change your life!

Thanks Kathy!
